Special Olympics BC (SOBC) provides sports programs and competitions to meet the needs and interests of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Established in 1980, today over 3,500 athletes participate in Special Olympics BC sports programs in 55 communities across British Columbia. These programs give athletes the opportunity to train year-round in order to compete and test their skills against athletes of similar ability.

The success of a project will often depend on how clearly the purpose has been defined. Answering some basic questions will provide the key information necessary for the development of the project charter. It is the approved project charter that will give the Project Manager the authority to proceed as well as provide the critical high-level information needed for the development of the project management plan.

The virtual reality of project management

As technology continues to expand our global reach, project managers are faced with the reality of managing projects by use of virtual teams. A virtual team definition according to the PMBOK guide is "groups of people with shared goals who fulfill their roles with little or no times spent meeting face to face". Depending on your industry and the type of project, a virtual team will require extra work and diligence on the part of the PM in order to be successful.
